In Defense of Sampaguita
Hi My Name is Jacinta, I am the daughter of Sampaguita. I am writing to set the record straight regarding the claims of Gary Perez.
Feb. 11,2013 -I watched Gary Perez's interview on i-Witness...I witnessed a Traitor, a Liar , a Drunk and Pathetic Man...in that order.
Gary came to our house on 2011, pretending to be our friend. We treated him like family. We gave him a laptop, took him shopping...got him a new cellphone, eyeglasses, shoes...updated his look. He asked for money to get his guitar out of pawnshop, money for his Christmas shopping etc. He owes my Mom a lot of Money its only thru kindness she still helps him out. I have all the signed vouchers and text messages to prove this.
1977 From the very beginning he was untrue...he wanted to get the solo claims for the songs he co-wrote with Sampaguita. When my mom was in Australia he copyrighted all the songs, but not including her name in the credits. Wasn't this a treacherous move. He did this because he was brokenhearted that she left him for another guy.
He is an Ex-Boyfriend that hasn't moved-on
-Gary doesn't want money. He just wanted to get my Mom back...I-WITNESSED it. I was there when he was making blues saying to my Mom..."Did u love me, why did u hurt me" I thought to myself...Huh? ano ba yan? Sorry nalang Dude busted ka ulit.. Kaya he is doing all this things para mapansin. We told him that time he was in our house..."Lets do the accounting" ...giving him copies of all the royalty statements. He didn't even want to see it!!!
I don't like the fact that after all the kindness and compassion My Mom has shown him thru the years he has the nerve to come back after 21 years to ruin her name and the reputation by saying all these lies on interviews and on national TV. He is not only ruining her reputation but ours as well (Children & Grandchildren) Which is unfair to our family!
That's why I am really upset about this.
And if he is such a good composer... how come he can't come up with other hit song.
Why does he have to put somebody down just promote his album. That is such a talangka mentality.
I love my Mom very much. I told her that I am her shield and I will defend her to the very end.
I feel so bad to the kindhearted people who just want to help Gary. The only problem is that the guy that they are helping is a fraud.
So to everyone concerned... the fans , friends, fellow musicians and family of my Mom in and out the music industry. Please Don't believe him. Help me in shedding light to those whose minds Gary has poisoned. Pls Share this blog. Thank you very much!

I am speaking on behalf of all the fans of Pinoy Rock, and esp to the fans of Mr Gary Perez and Sampaguita.
Let me first point out that this blog has committed all kinds of logical fallacies.
this means that it is one sided, and is a personal attack on the character of Gary Perez, and not really addressing the issue as to what is presented: the Royalties due to Mr Gary Perez.
first, a Logical Fallacy is:
A fallacy is incorrect argument in logic and rhetoric resulting in a lack of validity, or more generally, a lack of soundness. Fallacies are either formal fallacies or informal fallacies.
there is also multiple Confirmation Biases which sums up the entirety of this blog.
the most obvious logical fallacy is:
Ad Hominem

An Ad Hominem is a general category of fallacies in which a claim or argument is rejected on the basis of some irrelevant fact about the author of or the person presenting the claim or argument. Typically, this fallacy involves two steps. First, an attack against the character of person making the claim, her circumstances, or her actions is made (or the character, circumstances, or actions of the person reporting the claim). Second, this attack is taken to be evidence against the claim or argument the person in question is making (or presenting). This type of "argument" has the following form:
Person A makes claim X.
Person B makes an attack on person A.
Therefore A's claim is false.
The reason why an Ad Hominem (of any kind) is a fallacy is that the character, circumstances, or actions of a person do not (in most cases) have a bearing on the truth or falsity of the claim being made (or the quality of the argument being made).
In the real world, your character assassination will not hold any ground.
this will, and has been dismissed.
(as you probably know by now by the amount of circulation this blog has gotten. almost none btw)
It is really sad that this matter pertaining one of the greatest projects in Pinoy Rock, involving two legends, has to be answered by the daughter who was not even born at the time of the creation of this catalog.
it seems like you are trying to say something on behalf of madame Sampaguita.
Only it being in the guise of being her child, you want to plead innocence at the same time, and try to convince the public that you should not be questioned.
what you have said about Mr Gary Perez is below the belt.
I have read the articles pertaining to his complaint and he did not go as far and as personal as you did.
this still gives him the sympathy of the Public and only makes you(or Sampaguita) the one that sounds resentful and bitter.
We believe that We deserve the true and official statement of Sampaguita, and NILSAN Productions pertaining to this matter.
We are hoping that this issue will be resolved soon, and both parties can come to an agreement as to how it will be settled.
airing out your personal grievances online is immature and lacking of intelligence.

DeleteObviously you don’t have a grasp on legality or reality. A person’s first hand account (eye witness) of a crime committed gives weight in a court of law. The term if I’m not mistaken is called “a credible witness.”
Now when Ms. Jacinta recounts details e.g. conversations, actions, etc of something that has transpired in her presence then there is credibility in her statement – but you have called it Logical Fallacy/Ad Hominem. In effect you have now given these 2 words new meaning.
Furthermore, you have branded the statements as logical fallacy / ad hominem are you trying to tell the public that you have intimate knowledge of what transpired during that time.
If stating the facts as it happened is “character assassination” well then you just added a knew meaning to that term also (what reality are you pertaining too or are leaving in your own little world).
If Ms. Jacinta wants to clarify certain issues then what’s wrong with that – that’s what “family is all about”. Or do you want to give new meaning also to the word “family” …truth adik.
You took a swipe at the amount of circulation the blog has gotten (“almost none btw”) – you seem to be implying that “nobody” is interested. But it attracted you. Are you now saying you are a “nobody” or a “wanna be somebody”?
I agreed with you when said “one of the greatest projects in Pinoy Rock”. But I beg to disagree with you when you say “involving two legends”. Sampaguita is an icon of Pinoy Rock and the Queen of Pinoy Rock! To place Gary Perez in the same category (Pinoy Rock - guitar legends) as Wally Gonzales, Resty Fabunan, Jun Lopito is out of key. Truth Adik your guitar is out of tune.
Mr. Perez made a decision to air his dirty laundry in public by way of media – through the advice of his handlers. When the proper forum should have been the courts’. Like the saying goes, if you can ditch it, you can take it. At the end of the day the courts’ will decide.
What difference does it make if the person was not even born during those times – when her resource person is her mother (a main character). So hypothetically speaking if your mother told you stories and there comes a time when you want set the record straight on an issue –you would just keep your mouth shut?
By the way, what did you consider below the belt in the blog? Kindly enlighten the public.
Airing out personal grievances online is immature!? I say it’s a reality in social media – whether your grievances are with govt’, society, religion etc. We don’t live in a vacuum.
It seems to me you are also trying to say something also in the guise of someone or company – because you made the mistake of saying “creation of this catalog”, that is a music industry lingo. But then again I could be wrong and your just pretending to know it all.

ReplyDeleteThank u for your lengthy comment. I didn't mean to upset you.Maybe Gary means a lot to you so its okay with me that you gave your comment on my blog. But I just want to let you to know that your comment sounds like a lot of legal gobbledygook. Which I am not into. Legalities regarding this issue was not my point in the first place. My blog was on a very PERSONAL note. I only wrote about what actually happened in our home when Gary came over and how I felt after I watched a betrayal of kindness and trust on i-Witness. That’s all. I am sure that if you were in my place you would be just as upset. Especially if it was done to your Mom !!!!! So again, what I wrote was A PERSONAL THING ok ??? I thought Gary was my Mom’s good friend. Until he did what he did on national TV. He betrayed her and used her good name to promote his album.
Now regarding the royalty issue of Gary , Nilsan Productions and Sampaguita , I will leave that to their legal counsels. I have nothing to do with that except for the fact that I offered to show Gary these royalty statements ,which he refused to see when he was in our house. Let them settle this matter in court.
By the way, I just want to get things straight… since you are a
“ truth addik “ you might want to know some truths……. The songs that Gary claims are his ,are all collaborations by Gary and Sampaguita…it is not SOLELY his!!! and did you know that Gary and Sampaguita were live-in partners for five years???? So how can Gary claim that Sampaguita has not been giving him any royalties. FYI Gary owes my Mom a lot of Money and Royalties will not be enough to cover what Gary owes her.
I hope I Have made myself clear and I hope that Gary appreciates your concern regarding my blog. And I also hope you can live up to your name "Truth Adik" by finding out what the truth really is.
You will only Know the Truth if you see them together and hear both sides. This I have personally witnessed. Because I saw them together. That’s why I wrote my blog. I have proofs of what transpired in their meeting . Do you want to see it ??

Finally you see the light. You just hit the nail on the head. Because it is Mr. Perez who is claiming he composed/wrote all the songs---he is the one going around town telling people/media all credits belong to him, and him alone.
Now, I don’t know about you (but most likely you will find something to copy and paste for your comment), but for me that is misleading, a sinister act – fraud in nature (an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual / a deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain)

Also You write very well :) Your point of view was very clear. Unlike "Truth Adik" magulong magsulat, parang trying hard lawyer / journalist. Very confusing ang statements niya. I don't even know why Truth Adik is reacting so aggressively to my blog.

ReplyDeleteYour welcome. I was just giving my opinion (my two cents worth) - I've been around the block and I have a good grasp of the situation and issue. Some people like to muddle the situation because he/she stand to gain something from all this. The way truth adik is vigorously on the offense only goes to show there's more to it than meets the eye.
Actually, I find truth adik very entertaining - his stupidity never ceases to amaze me.
Keep your spirits high Ms. Jacinta there are many out there who love and support your mom.
